Red House is home to Contra Costa County's best original rock, metal and indie music. Our intimate performance hall offers killer sound, great lights and an intimate setting for both fans and performers. What's even better is that our in-house booking and sound engineering team brings at new level of professionalism to delivering local music, making Red House the preferred place to gig. Here's what we do...
Red House Live!
Red House Live means great local rock & metal - delivered every week to an 'all-ages' audience in a high-class venue. We're proud that we're one of the few venues that caters to an 'all ages' crowd during our 'prime time' weekend slots, and we're also big fans of teen bands. Check myspace.com/redhousemusic for our show schedule. Most shows are $10 at the door (free for Red House members).
We assemble a killer bill of complementary bands, and then work with the groups to pack the house. Red House Live is a co-promotion deal with local bands - so if your band's fans turn up, you'll turn out some nice cash.
Songwriter's Cafe & Open Mic
Great acoustic shows happen at least twice a month at Red House. Our 'Songwriter's Cafe' series features up to 6 top quality singer / songwriters in an engaging 'in-the-round' format. And just to give the audience a chance, we allow for an hour or so of open mic after the two sets of the show. It's a great way to showcase your songs, be inspired by other songwriters, or just relax with some great indie tunes. And ya know what's cool - at our place, the audience actually listens to the songs!
Member's Shows & Band Foundry
Red House is more than a performance venue - we're also an innovative music school and jam club. That's why we dedicate certain nights to the bands of Red House members, and to the final performances of our 'Band Foundry' program. With set lists stacked with the best blues, R&B and classic rock tunes, these nights are always a blast - and a milestone for many of the performers.

Requesting a Gig. If interested in a gig, contact us via email at booking@redhouselive.com, or on myspace.com/redhousemusic. Please include contact information (name, email, phone) and links to demo tracks (mp3s). Please DO NOT send CDs or press kits.
Booking Hours. If you'd like to contact us in person or by phone about a gig, please do so during our booking hours - Tuesday and Thursday between 6-8pm. Please don't call or visit before you've sent us links to your songs and/or myspace.
Booking Criteria. Red House has two primary booking criteria: 1) be easy to work with, and 2) draw a lot of people! If you'd like to play here, convince us of your ability to mobilize your fans to come see you, and do so in a professional manner. It's usually most convincing if a group of bands presents a complete play bill for the show. Red House membership is not required for booking. Bands that are rude to the staff, fail to comply with directions from our engineering staff, or are late/no-show for a gig seriously jeopardise future booking opportunities.

Proximate Bookings. The best way to draw well is not to overplay your audience. We like bands that are not playing in the 925 area code within at least a month of their Red House show.
Revenue Sharing. Red House works on a 'revenue-sharing'/'co-promotion' philosophy. We allocate a percentage of the ticket sales to the performers, and then distribute it based on audience draw. All formulas are included in our contract, and are quantified and auditable. We do not offer guarantees or fixed payments to bands.
Guest List. We allow one guest per regular/permanent band member. Guest lists must be submitted in advance.
It's All in Writing. If order to be booked at Red House, you must sign a Booking Agreement. It's important to us that there's zero miscommunications or misperceptions about how the venue works - that's why we document it all in advance. If you haven't signed a booking agreement, you're not booked.
