Brian Chamberlin - Principal Engineer

Brian Chamberlin is an expert in live sound and recording, and engineers many of the live shows and live recordings at Red House. When not at Red House, Brian works for Third Ear Sound, a highly regarded sound reinforcement company. At Third Ear, Brian has worked with The Temptations, Carlos Santana, Papa Roach, Jefferson Starship, Marcus Miller, The Whispers, Pete Escovedo and others at leading Bay Area venues. Brian holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Sound Arts from Expression College for Digital Arts.

Brian is also a multi-instrumental that’s been active on the local music scene for over a decade. As a sax player, Brian has earned first chair positions in both classic and jazz honor bands. He’s played bass and sang backing vocals in ‘For the Crown’ and ‘The Slicks’, which have been featured on KVHS ‘The Edge 90.5’ and KITS ‘Live 105’, respectively. Mostly recently, Brian scored, performed and engineered three television commercials for Magnolia Foods. Brian also plays drums, piano, guitar and flute.


Dustin Smith - Principal Engineer

Red House Principal Engineer Dustin Smith has been recording local artists for over 10 years. Since he began hanging out at Sound Solutions Studios during High School, Dustin has been actively building his engineering and production skills. He holds a B.A. in Audio Recording and Production from San Francisco State University. Through his time at Bay View Studios and Fantasy Studios, he’s learned from leading Bay Area Engineers Karl Derfler (credits: No Doubt, Dave Matthews Band, Stroke 9 and Smashmouth) and Michael Rosen (credits: AFI, Rancid, Aerosmith, Journey, Joe Satriani, and Carlos Santana's - including winning a Grammy for the song "Game of Love" featuring Michelle Branch). Dustin’s personal credits include work with Anyone 4 Tennis, Cold Hot Crash, Kid Innocence and Yours Truly, and with major label recording artisst Tom Waits (Shrek 2 sound track) and Switchfoot. Dustin has also worked as a manager at Apple Computer, and is an expert on the Mac, ProTools and most things techie.

Dustin’s also an accomplished musician. Beginning with piano and sax at age 7, he’s since found his passion on the drums. After years of playing with a variety of local bands, Dustin found his current band, The Federalists (www.the-federalists.com). The Federalists just released their self-titled, debut album, which Dustin engineered and mixed.
