ABOUT GUITARS NOT GUNS
Guitars Not Guns is a grass roots non-profit organization that provides free guitars and lessons to foster kids and other at risk youth between the ages 8 to 18. GnG believes that music provides a positive diversion from the risks of drugs, violence and other self-destructive behavior. Founded by foster parent and musician Ray Nelson in 2000, Guitars Not Guns has spread from Northern California to many different locales throughout the US and Canada.

The Contra Costa County chapter has served over 200 kids since its start in 2005. With no administrative expenses and 100% volunteer instructor team, all donations are directed toward buying guitars and books for the kids. This fundraising effort - ‘Music Lives Here – Vol. 2’ - is projected to fund 50 new program participants!

Guitars not Guns is a federally exempt 501(c) (3) non profit organization. For more information, visit www.guitarsnotguns.org.
Music Lives Here - Volume 2 showcases the songwriting talents of 12 high school bands from Contra Costa County, California. All tracks were produced and recorded at Red House Studios in Walnut Creek. Profits from sales of the album benefit Guitars Not Guns, a not-for-profit that provides guitars and lessons to local at-risk youth. Give it a listen, and support the cause by buying the album and attending the release shows!
