Helping Kids Discover Their Musicality

Red House's Explore Rock 'n Roll program is a truly unique and exciting way to get your kids involved with music at a young age. Broken up into 6 week segments that combine semi-private lessons with group 'band' sessions, the Explore program is the perfect segue into private lessons. Your child will choose an instrument to focus on for the six weeks and be able to apply the skills they've learned in their very own rock band with kids their age. The program culminates with a performance on our stage that never fails to 'wow' the parents, and always leaves the kids eager for more.

HERE'S WHAT'S NEXT

Although after one round of Explore many students begin taking private lessons in the instrument of their choice, students are encouraged and welcome to continue taking the Explore Rock 'n Roll class as many times as they'd like. Some students choose a different instrument each time, while others continue to learn on one instrument. Because the Explore class is designed to accommodate students of varied experience levels and no two classes are exactly alike, there's plenty to learn, and plenty of fun to be had!

HERE'S WHAT WE'LL COVER

RHYTHM GUITAR

Play whole, half, and quarter note rhythms with power chords on the low E string.

LEAD GUITAR

Pick and fret strings, and start playing simple melodies on the high-E and B strings.

KEYBOARD

Understand the key names, and play simple chords and melodies.

BASS

Play simple bass grooves on the E and A strings.

DRUMS

Keep time with kick/snare patterns, integrate the high hat, and then add quarter note tom fills.

FUNDAMENTALS & BAND SKILLS

Note values, note names, tempo, and dynamics are taught throughout the Explore Rock & Roll Curriculum. Plus, we'll emphasize band etiquette and other important group skills.
