HERE'S HOW IT WORKS
JAMS AND ESSENTIALS
First and last months dues are due at the time of signing up. Fees are automatically charged to a credit or debit card each month. You may cancel at any time. Last month's dues are non-refundable, thus there's a two month minimum.
BAND FOUNDRY
The initial 4 session fee is due at the time you request placement. One quarter of the fee is applied at each band rehearsal, regardless of attendance. When you're out of sessions, a new package is changed to your credit card. Cancel at any time with two weeks notice.
JAM or BAND - WHICH IS BEST?
Both jam sessions and band workshops provide great playing experience and a great time. Here's how they're different:
JAM SESSIONS
BAND WORKSHOPS
Playing Time
Players rotate on the stage, so playing time is split among the musicians who drop in. Typically you'll play 40-60% of the time.
Guaranteed placement in a group, so you'll be playing the whole time.
Song Selection
Informal sessions with the ability to play lots of different songs.
Songs selections are made in advance so you have time to practice. You'll perfect the songs over several weeks.
Instruction
Our hosts are happy to provide tips and answer questions, but their job is mostly to organize not teach.
Our instructors act as the band's music director. We help with arrangements, performance dynamics and showmanship!
Performance
No planned performances, although you can meet others and form a band.
Performances every 2-4 months, including outdoor gigs.
Scheduling
Lots of sessions to choose from each week. Great for those with variable schedules.
Fixed time each week based on band placement.
Fees
Lowest cost option – a whole month of jams for less than a single hour lesson!
Costs a bit more because of the lower host to player ratio, but still cheaper than the competition.

FAQ's
BAND WORKSHOPS
A band workshop is an instructor lead ensemble organized by Red House. We assemble like-minded and similarly skills players, provide a rehearsal space, offer music direction and coaching, and even host or organize your gigs. Band Workshops are designed to be both fun and instructional, and eliminate the hassles of managing a band.
Yes, the bands perform every 2-4 months at either Red House or popular community events (including the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival).
The group's music director collaborates with the band members to select the material.
You'll certainly benefit from coming to every practice, and the more you come, the more songs you'll play during the shows. However, we've structured our programming and our pricing so that missing a session occasionally won't break the bank or your progress. If you can't come to at least 4 of 5 rehearsals, you might check out our drop-in 'Jam Sessions'.

Red House offers programs for both novice and experienced musicians, so it's likely there's one for you. We're happy to provide a free consultation to help you pick the right one.
Absolutely. Just click on the 'Get Started at Red House' button on the left side of this web page to request a free trial session.
Bring your own guitar, bass or drum sticks. Red House supplies the amps, keyboards, drum kits, cables and PA gear. You're welcome to bring in more of your own gear if you'd like, assuming you can still get on and off stage quickly.
Fees are payable on a rolling basis, typically via auto-bill to a credit card. Session fees are payable regardless of attendance. Accounts must be current to maintain placement in a certain group. Participants may cancel at any time by giving Red House two weeks notice.

MEMBERSHIP & BILLING
Red House membership is focused on our jam sessions and drop-in classes. Private lessons, recording, rehearsal space and the majority of our workshops and seminars are available to non-members.
A session is basically any line item on the Red House schedule. You may come to multiple sessions on the same day, such as a class and jam session, or spread them out over the month. Sessions are valid for 60 days from the date of purchase (i.e. they 'roll-over' for one month).
Absolutely. We offer tours of our facility and consultations with our instructors free-of-charge. You can also participate in any session on the schedule for only $25. The fee can be applied against your initiation fee if you join within 30 days.
Monthly dues are automatically billed directly to your credit card (VISA/Mastercard) or checking account (ACH). You will be charged on the same day of the month as you joined (e.g. Join on January 8th, and be charged on the 8th of each following month).
At the time you join, you'll be charged for your first and last month's dues, and the initiation fee. The total charge is $130 for Unlimited, and $60 for Twice-a-Month. Red House accepts cash, check, VISA or Mastercard. You have three days to change your mind, after which the fees are non-refundable.
Sure, but musicians that are under the age 18 must have their parent or guardian execute the membership agreement on their behalf.

Red House does not allow suspensions for other reasons, such as vacations, sports schedules or other temporary schedule conflicts.
