We'll cover essential grooves and phrases in blues, rock, funk and more, all while creating your own killer solos. You'll get plenty of practice putting the licks to work, and understand the theory behind them.

LAY DOWN THE MOTIVE
Get the most out of the first critical notes of your solo by playing a well-constructed melody, also known as the motive.

DEVELOPING AND VARYING THEME
Build off your motive through repeating, and varying your initial motive, using it as the theme for your solo.

DEVELOPING SEQUENCES
Use patterns of notes that move through the scale or key (transpose) while retaining the original pattern often used to build tension.

TOPPING IT ALL OFF
Move up the neck at strategic points for the greatest impact, and tie your solo together with a memorable ending.

DAILING IN YOUR LEAD TONE
Set your guitar so when it come to the solo you can be heard without blowing out the song. We'll discuss tone, volume and effects.

Prerequisites:
Designed for Beginning Soloists. Participants should be comfortable playing open, power and barre chords, and be able to play basic rock riffs. If you need more practice on these skills, check out the 'Riff' Electric Guitar Course.
